Welcome To The Cybernetics Institute

Cybernetics is defined, in Webster's Dictionary, as the study of the mechanical brain. Since, Ancient Greece, from which the word come, philosophers have been theorizing about creating a mechanical brain. The invention of the computer, was the latest attempt. Computer scientists, since then, have been theorizing about artificial intelligence; how to create, or replicate, human intelligence. The primary problem is that there is no satisfactory definition of what intelligence is. Most philosophies fail in the computer, leading some in the field to try to model behavior, which has lead others to modeling simple forms of life; A.L. (Artifiical Life). As one can see, the field A.I./A.L. can encompass the sciences of psychology, sociology, biology and zoology. The steps to cybernetics, which involves robotics and ultimately the artificial human, is the evolution of A.I. and A.L.. Then, in order to achieve the final step, medical science needs to be researched, providing the required knowledge to model the human being. Conversely, researching these different fields, could yield new benefits to both computer science and the other related fields, by finding solutions to problems in one field, in another field.
